VIDEO - STAFF RATES DRY SNORKELS
Roy & Cathy gives their opinion on the Dry Snorkels that we sell. The top rated dry snorkel is the Oceanic Ultra Dry Snorkel with more than a perfect score. The next best rated snorkel is the US Divers Paradise Dry Snorkel with a near perfect score. With not so perfect scores, the US Divers Island Dry Snorkel and U.S. Divers Total Dry were also rated (discontinued by the manufacturer). The NG Bonefish Dry Snorkel was rated the worst dry snorkel and we discontinued this product.

STAFF RATES DRY SNORKELS - VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Cathy: Hi, this is Cathy and Roy. We had to get Roy on drier land, the fish were eating him. He's in a boat and he's going to review the five dry snorkels that we sell at SnorkelingOnline.com and he's going to tell us what the positives and negatives are.
Roy: Starting with the U.S. Divers Island Dry Snorkel, price point is a positive; accessible purge valve is a positive. Those are basically the two positives. The third positive is, does it keep the water out? Negative. Non-replaceable mouthpiece, silflex mouthpiece or PVC mouthpiece, not comfortable.
Then we move on to the U.S. Divers Paradise Dry Snorkel. Positive - accessible purge valve, silicone mouthpiece is a positive. Excellent on keeping the water out. That's a positive up here. Mouthpiece non-replaceable - negative.
Then we go to the Total Dry Snorkel by U.S. Divers. The Total Dry Snorkel does have the positive of having an accessible purge valve, replaceable mouthpiece - positive. A little bit negative on keeping the water out. That's basically it on those. (Since this video was made, this snorkel has been discontinued by U.S. Divers.)
Cathy: And that's the U.S. Diver Total Dry.
Roy: Moving on to the National Geographic, positive - replaceable mouthpiece. Negative - caged in purge valve. Non-angled mouthpiece - negative. Snorkel keeper - negative. Heavy on top - negative. Sorry. (Since this video, we have discontinued the National Geographic Swordfish Dry Snorkel. They still make it, but I do not recommend purchasing it, not a good snorkel.)
Ultra Dry Snorkel.
Cathy: By Oceanic?
Roy: By Oceanic Ultra Dry Snorkel. Accessible purge valve, replaceable mouthpiece, silicone tubing here, excellent on any position on closing off the airway, easy to put on and the snorkel keeper can be separated. All positives on this one, Cathy. What do you think?
Cathy: Roy, if you had to grade all five of them, I personally would give the Oceanic UltraDry as an A++.
Roy: Yes.
Cathy: And do you agree?
Roy: Yes.
Cathy: And the Bonefish by National Geographic, what would you grade it?
Roy: Do I have to?
Cathy: Yes, you have to. This is for our customers. They want to know the truth.
Roy: They'll be on sale!
Cathy: Yes, they will. As soon as we get back to the store they will be on sale.
Roy: No, I'm really not pleased with this.
Cathy: I give it an F.
Roy: I give it an F.
Cathy: And the Total Dry, Roy?
Roy: Total Dry I'm going to give a C.
Cathy: A C?
Roy: A C.
Cathy: You know, five years ago it was a great snorkel because dry technology was new.
Roy: Right.
Cathy: But now it's changed so much. Yeah, I'd give it probably a C+. The top is a little too heavy for me.
Roy: It is a little more [work].
Cathy: But it's old. It's time to retire her. It's time to retire her, and the U.S. Divers Paradise Dry Snorkel? I have to give it definitely a B+. If it had a replaceable mouthpiece, I would grade it an A+ but because it's not a replaceable mouthpiece, but because of the price point, I think it's just under $20, you can't beat it, so I give it a B+.
Roy: Price point and features, I'm going to give it an A.
Cathy: Oh, you are?
Roy: Because of the price point. I can live with the non-replaceable silicone mouthpiece but again, I do gnaw on it. It's still A++ on the Oceanic Ultra Dry Snorkel.
Cathy: Yeah, yeah.
Roy: So I give this an A.
Cathy: Okay, and the U.S. Divers Island Dry Snorkel?
Roy: The Island snorkel, I'm going to give an A-.
Cathy: No.
Roy: No, I'm sorry, a B, a B.
Cathy: Really? See? I give it uh-uh
Roy: You give it less?
Cathy: My mouth gets sore. My jaw gets sore. Uh-uh. My snorkeling adventure is over. I'm going to say a C-.
Roy: Okay, I'll go B-.
Cathy: I just honestly think that there's a lot of snorkeling packages out there that do offer it but they're inexpensive snorkeling packages and that is why, because of that snorkel.
Roy: Yeah.
Cathy: Because how can screw up on a mask or how can screw up on a pair of fins? It's the snorkel with the newest technology out there. So I'm going to have to give it a C-. But that's my opinion.
Roy: Okay. I'm going B-.
Cathy: All right. Thank you very much. Let's get out of here. The sun's starting to go down but at least we had the opportunity to go out and play in the water.
Roy: And cool off!
Cathy: Yes. Thanks Roy.
Roy: Thank you!
