HOW TO FIT A SNORKELING MASK - VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
The snorkel mask used for snorkeling is your window to the underwater world. Comfort and fit is very important when selecting your personal mask for snorkeling. Quality snorkel masks use silicone for the mask skirt. They also have a double seal which allows a better fit for a wider range of face sizes. A snorkel mask that does not fit will allow water to enter, making your snorkeling adventure a most unpleasant experience.

The snorkel mask selected should not have any part of the seal extend into the hairline, as this will break the seal and allow water to enter. It is quite obvious, our model doesn't have that problem. ("Model": Ha Ha.) The lower part of the face seal should not extend too far down the top lip, as this will also break the seal when smiling or using the snorkel.

Not every snorkel mask will fit every face. When trying on a mask, you should not use the mask strap. Place the snorkel mask gently to the face and inhale slightly through your nose, holding your breath. The snorkel mask should seal to the face with just the slight inhalation. If you have to inhale harder to get the snorkel mask to seal then it is a good bet that it doesn't fit. Bring your head forward, tilting your head down. If the snorkel mask maintains a seal then it is a good fit. Then put the snorkel mask on with the strap. Placement of the snorkel strap is also important. The snorkel strap should be worn so that it rests across the crown of the head which will provide equal pressure to the top and bottom portion of the mask. The snorkel mask strap should not be too tight as the silicone skirt needs to conform to the natural features of your face.
