WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SNORKELING MASKS - VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Roy: How are you?
Customer: I'm doing real good. I went and I picked out four different snorkeling masks.
Roy: Okay.
Customer: I just need to know the difference.
Roy: Okay. Did the snorkeling mask fit you pretty good when you tried them on?
Customer: Yes. I went by how you told me to fit them to my face.
Roy: Okay. Let's take a look at these.
Customer: And they do fit.
Roy: Okay, you definitely do have some different snorkeling masks here. And the difference basically from what I can see is the number of lenses that you have in the snorkeling masks. Now you have a single lens here. You also chose a double lens. You also chose one that has three lenses on it and you chose one that has four lenses on it.
Now the lenses on all of the masks are made of glass. It's tempered glass here, sort of like the windshield glass on your car.
Customer: Okay.
Roy: It's going to break in bigger pieces rather than in small slivers.
Customer: Okay.
Roy: Okay, which doesn't sound like a good thing to happen anyway, right?
Customer: Well no, but --
Roy: So you want to take good care of your snorkeling mask.
Customer: But bigger is at least it's a little bit better.
Roy: When you have a problem on that -- you won't have a problem on that. But basically on the single-lens mask, what you have is one lens going right across the front.
Customer: Okay.
Roy: And there is no break in the middle here.
Customer: I did like that. I did notice the difference between --
Roy: That and --
Customer: and those --
Roy: -- the one that does have the break like on the double-lens snorkeling mask? This one does have the piece that goes down here. Now what did you notice that was different on this?
Customer: Well, my eyes tended to cross.
Roy: To cross to this? You definitely don't want to go cross-eyed on snorkeling, okay? Well, the double lens does have the two separate pieces on it. It also is a little bit smaller in volume. The space from your eyes to the front of the glass itself is actually a little bit smaller space.
Customer: Okay.
Roy: So it does give you a little bit more vision out in front. But you said you had a problem with this snorkeling mask is going to be set aside.
Customer: Okay.
Roy: The third snorkeling mask, the one you have - this one actually has three lenses. Now this is great for snorkelers because it does give you a little bit more peripheral vision, which is looking out to the side a little bit more. Try this snorkeling mask and tell me what you think about it.
Customer: Well, this one's nice except for now I tend to look to the sides.
Roy: Okay. So your eyes are drawn over there.
Customer: Yeah. Now I'm not cross-eyed. Now I'm side-eyed.
Roy: Whatever that's called. But the one thing on this one, you may have noticed that this snorkeling mask has a little valve down here on the bottom.
Customer: Yeah, that --
Roy: Well what that's for is basically if you do get water inside the mask, you can get the water out by simply blowing through your nose. Do you plan on scuba diving?
Customer: Not for a while. I want to snorkel for a while and get that under my belt and then --
Roy: And then go on to scuba diving.
Customer: Yeah.
Roy: Now for me, since I do scuba dive, this is a nice feature for me because I have a mustache.
Customer: Okay.
Roy: And when I'm down 30-40-50 feet underneath the water and I get a little bit of water coming up because of my mustache, it breaks the seal, I have to get the water back out. There's a couple of different ways to do it but with the purge valve, all you simply do is hold the mask firmly to your face. You hold it nice and tight and what happens is if the water's in there, you start exhaling through your nose and the air is going to go which way?
Customer: It's going to go up.
Roy: It's going to go up. Since I won't let it out here, it has to push the water out the bottom, correct?
Customer: Yeah.
Roy: So it's going to push it out this little valve here when I exhale. Did you hear that?
Customer: I heard that.
Roy: I also fogged up my mask too.
Customer: I was just going to say, doesn't that fog up?
Roy: It does fog up but they make solutions for that. All right. The last snorkeling mask that you looked at was actually a four-window. Now this one does have the break in the middle but it does have the two windows on the side. Now I want you to try this one and tell me what you think as far as the peripheral vision, the side vision.
Customer: Now this one I liked a lot better because this one I could see. For some reason my eyes didn't go this way. They didn't go to the left or the right.
Roy: That could be because it's a little bit farther away from your eyes.
Customer: Well that's a nice feature. I still tend to, not as much, but I still tend to want to look cross-eyed.
Roy: Well, you want to be happy with the snorkeling mask that you have so basically the ones that have the break in it, you didn't care for.
Customer: That's right. And I don't care for the purge.
Roy: You don't need that right now. So basically this is the mask you're looking at.
Customer: That's the one.
Roy: Great color for you?
Customer: Great color for me.
Roy: Not have the snorkeling fashion police after you, right?
Customer: Well you know what, I don't really care.
Roy: Now you're going to have to get a snorkel with this, right?
Customer: That's correct.
Roy: Okay, let's go grab some snorkels and we'll come back.
Customer: All right.
