Well Rob, while I can agree with purge valves for scuba divers, this is a snorkeling site.

I am a bearded/mustached divemaster and have been using an oceanmaster dive mask with a purge valve for years. The purge valve makes clearing the small amounts of water that collect very easy. I have a hundred plus dives on this mask to depths of 130′ with never a failure! People who poo poo masks with purge valves don’t know what they are talking about.

Actually Jessica Alba is snorkeling in the movie “Into the Blue” which is about scuba divers finding a sunken drug plane. And the guy is Paul Walker. Also, is he wearing a Kapitol Reef snorkel at one point?

My kids snorkel in my mom’s pool – that is about the furthest they have gone. Of course my eight year old has “snorkled” waist deep in the ocean, but that was only with a mask – so “technically” not… My oldest did take a one day scuba class for scouts and loved it though. Living by the water, I am surprised that we really don’t have any places for safe snorkeling for young ones… that would be fun!
