What a fun few days we had in Cancun. Before Sarah and I went on the Jungle Cruise, we went snorkeling outside of the condo where we stayed in Cancun. It was basic and shallow so when we walked out to the water, we found that because of the heat and how shallow the waters were, the fishies were no where to be found. Our solution was not as we expected. We walked down the beach were we were hoping to find rock or in this case, boulders in the water where the fish would have shade.
Our experience is a good example of first observing your surrounding area before you get in the water. While the beach is beautiful and the sound and feel of the ocean is awesome, we had to be careful. There was a strong wind which brought the waves cracking to the shore. Watch our video.
Happy Holidays! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I had the opportunity to go to Cancun with my niece and we spend our 4 days being very active. Because we did so much, I will break the details of our days within a few blog posts.
I dont know if you are aware of, that SnorkelingOnline.com is located in the suburbs of Chicago. In Chicago, for the last 30 days, Mr. Winter has been acting horrible and the day we left for Cancun was no different. We have been blessed with snow and then covered with ice, which makes it fun behind the wheel of a car. (yes, that statement was total sarcasm.) Before we left, we had -30 degrees with the wind, which is -34C for our international friends and then went to 80 degrees (26C), it was a trip that I was looking forward to.
Sarah, my niece, who has never been out of the country was looking forward
to an adventurous weekend. We had our days planned… the first day we went on the jungle tour which including jet skiing through the mangroves and then we went to the ocean and went snorkeling. The next day we went to Xel-Ha and of course went snorkeling again and kayaking. Sarah had the opportunity to swim with the dolphins which was the highlight of her day. Our last day we went zipping through the jungle on zip lines and then went snorkeling on the cenotes.
I will be back in a few days to talk more on our trip… I have to unpack & wash clothes now.

Here is another spectacular sighting… a pink dolphin. Capt. Rue of Calcasieu Charter Services, during a charter fishing trip on Calcasieu Lake, near Lake Charles in Louisianna in 2007, spotted this beautiful unusual pink dolphin. Is it an albino? With the red eyes, Rue believes so. Calcasieu Charter Services updated their website, stating that the beautiful pink dolphin was spotted again in April 08. For most snorkelers, we would die to snorkel with dolphins on a nature environment but can you just imagine what it would be like to go snorkeling with PINK dolphins? Ahhh, I can only dream!
