Excessive loss of body heat leads to hypothermia. You need to protect yourself while you are in the water especially the core area of your body which is the torso. A great way to slow down the heat you are losing while you are in the water is to wear a suit that provides thermal insulation. This is the purpose behind wet suits and shorties.

The Aqua Lung Sport 3mm Quantum Stretch Shorty wetsuit provides you a way to insulate your body to slow down the heat that is lost. Using 3mm neoprene which is layered between stretchy nylon laminate A properly fitting Quantum Stretch shorty hugs your body in comfort allowing only a thin layer of water to enter the suit which is what your body heats up rather than trying to heat up the entire Ocean. The neoprene is a super stretch neoprene which conforms quite well to your unique shape.

To help keep the thin layer of water in the suit Aqua Lung Sport added what they call "skin out" seals. These seals are found at the neck, arms and the legs and serve to effectively minimize the water flow that may occur from those points. The 3mm neoprene insulating material is closed celled which does not allow water to seep through the material. The neck seal is adjustable via the sport grip tab on the neck closure. The Quantum Stretch shorty is a back zippered entry which is so much easier to put on and take off than a front zip entry.  The zipper is a non corrosive YKK #10 zipper and with a zipper leash. These are made in male and female sizing.
