  • The Alpha Swim Fins by Aqua Sphere is the most unconventional fin style on the market today. The Alpha Fin is the lightest and most comfortable fin that you could put on your feet. This fin is excellent for swimming, swimming fitness as well as snorkeling and great for packing, as they only weigh 1.2 pounds a pair.

Made of injection molded EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) foam which is medical grade, non toxic, hypoallergenic and fully resistant to chemicals and sunlight. Originally designed with fitness swimmers in mind, the Alpha fin blade rests on top of the foot rather than underneath which puts emphasis on the swimmer/snorkeler's quadriceps rather than on the hamstring which virtually eliminates cramping. The Alpha Swim fin is also positively buoyant so you will never have to swim down to pick up a dropped fin from the bottom of the pool or out in open water environments. This positive buoyancy also forces swimmers to work against the buoyancy on the downward kick (which is the part of the kick that provides the forward motion) than on the upstroke (recovery kick). It is also unique in the fact that it is the first fins that actually have a left fin and a right fin as well as offering arch support. The bottom of the fin has curving power ribs which are curving channels that provide excellent stability and power transfer.

I had heard about these fins from a girlfriend of mine. She raved about them and after she let me try hers in our local municipal pool she almost didn't get them back from me. LOL. I have mine now and though I use them only for laps in the pool, I am seriously thinking about taking them on my vacation in March to Belize. They are so light in weight. At first they were uncomfortable until my girlfriend told me that they were upside down and on the wrong feet. I never knew that there was a left and a right fin. I give these an a+++++
